Parks and gardens have existed for hundreds of years. People sought recreation, but at the same time, they wanted aesthetically pleasing spaces. Over time, this led to the development of a wide variety of park and garden designs.

The Kyffhäuser region of the southern Harz Mountains also boasts a wealth of these artificially created recreational areas. No two are alike. Each is special in its own way and tells a little story. We'd like to share some of these stories with you here.

The Kyffhäuser, the smallest low mountain range in Germany, or at least one of the smallest, but in any case a legendary one. Who doesn't know the story of Emperor Barbarossa, who still takes his nap in the mountain and only checks every 100 years to see if the ravens are still circling? But the landscape that you can discover along the Kyffhäuser Trail is also legendary.
